Advancing the common good through ecological restoration

Today, more so than at any point in history, society recognizes the fact that humanity’s fate is intertwined with that of the Earth. Responsible management of the environment is becoming an increasingly important issue for governmental policy makers. However, without substantial changes in the manner in which consumers use the Earth‘s resources, ecologically sustainable resource management is impossible. In order to support efforts in the environmental management realm (both global and local), it is necessary to widen the coverage of current sustainable lifestyles initiatives. To this end, Eco-plan facilitates sustainable consumption participatory, networking and advocacy tools that can be readily integrated into different types of environmental projects. By building local capacity through sustainable consumption, Eco-plan is helping other organizations to transform their own project beneficiaries from unsustainable consumers to engaged citizens with sustainable lifestyles, thus increasing the lasting effects of their projects. Currently, Eco-plan is taking part in UNEP’s project for sustainable consumption ‘youthxchange’ www.jovenesporelcambio.org and closely follows UNEP’s Marrakech process on Sustainable Consumption and Production.
